Invite your team
Create a workspace, invite colleagues by email, and what accepting an invitation looks like.
Creating a workspace and bringing your first colleague in takes a couple of minutes. You create the workspace, invite people by email, and they accept — from inside the app if they already use SolarLayout, or via a sign-up email if they don't.
Create a workspace
Open the workspace switcher
In the sidebar's account area, open the workspace switcher and choose Create workspace. That opens the full-page Create a workspace screen.
Name it
Give the workspace a name your team will recognise — the company name, or the bid it's for. You can rename it later.
You're switched into the new workspace right away, as its owner. It starts empty: no projects and no uploaded hardware files, and it carries its own plan, separate from your default workspace.
Invite people
From the Workspaces page (while a shared workspace is active), open the Team section and choose Invite — it opens a dedicated invite page. (Only workspace admins can invite; for everyone else the button is disabled with the note "Only workspace admins can invite people.") There you can add up to 5 people at once — each row is an email plus a role picker (Member or Admin, defaulting to Member; see Roles & members). To bring in several colleagues quickly, paste a list of addresses and it fans them out across the rows. Send when the rows look right.
What the invitee sees depends on whether they already use SolarLayout:
- Already on SolarLayout — the invitation appears right inside their app, as a banner on their dashboard the next time they're signed in. No email to dig out of a spam folder.
- New to SolarLayout — they get an email with a sign-up link. Once they create their account, they're brought into your team.
Pending invitations are listed under the Team section's Invitations tab until they're accepted or declined — and an admin can Revoke one there if it went to the wrong address.
Accepting an invitation
When you accept an invitation from the in-app banner, you're switched straight into the workspace — its (for now, probably empty) projects list and its hardware library. You're in; start working. Your default workspace is one switch away, untouched.
Declining — and changing your mind
Declining an invitation is fine, and it isn't final. The invitation disappears from your dashboard, and the team's admin can send you a fresh one any time — if a colleague declines by accident, just invite them again.
Common issues
- "A pending invitation already exists for this email." That address already has an open invitation to this workspace. It's listed under the Team section's Invitations tab — revoke it there first if you want to re-send with a different role.
- "… is already an active member of this organization." They're already in — check the members list.
- The invitee can't find the email. If they already have a SolarLayout account, there is no email — the invitation is waiting as a banner on their dashboard; have them sign in at solarlayout.app.
